California Proposition 65 Warning: Galena rock, a primary ore of lead, poses serious health concerns primarily due to its high lead content.  While a solid specimen is relatively inert, crushing, grinding, or smelting the rock releases toxic lead dust or fumes.  Inhalation or ingestion of these particles can lead to severe plumbism.
